San Bernardino celebrates all things citrus

The 103rd NOS Citrus Fair will be rolling into town early in May. This will be five days of attractions, carnival rides, various shows, and local vendors. Admission will be free and over 15,000 people are expected to attend.

Five contests are in the festival lineup. The baking contest will have four categories – cakes, pies, cookies and baker’s choice. Awards will go to first, second, and third place. There will also be a photo contest for both professional and amateur photographers, citrus display contest, a Battle of the Bands, and a juried art show.

Commercial and nonprofit groups will have booths in three zones. Some will be selling merchandise while others will be passing out information about their goods, services and missions. Some businesses will be distributing coupons, freebies, Promotional Products and samples.

Attractions will include pig, turkey, and dog racing, Brad’s World of Reptiles, A Shark Encounter, a tractor pull and a livestock display. Freckle Farm will be having a petting zoo and pony rides. Venardos Circus, the Street Drum Corp and Hypnotist Michael Swenson will be performing. Other entertainment will be provided by Voci Soli, Valley College, Multi-Cultural Dance Center, and Arnie Newman Country Club Band.

NOS Citrus Fair will be at the NOS Events Center, 689 S E Street from May 2 to 6. For Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, hours will be from 4:00 to 11:00 pm, while Saturday and Sunday’s fun runs from noon until 11:00 pm
