It is time once again for the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra (SBSO) to invite classical music fans to its new season.
The 2014-2015 season will premier in a few days with its first concert, entitled ‘Virtuosity’, and will feature violinist Roberto Cani.
Cani was originally from Milan and now resides in Los Angeles. He studied in Milan, Moscow, and the University of Southern California. By the age of 21, he had won the Minetti Prize at the Milan Conservatory, Genoa’s Paganini International Competition, Belgrade’s Jeunesses Musicales International Competition, and France’s Courcillon International Competition.
The orchestra performs five concerts per season in downtown San Bernardino’s California Theatre. Other performances are held during the year throughout the San Bernardino region. Many performances are offered free to the public in accordance with the mission of the SBSO, which is to provide Riverside and San Bernardino counties’ diverse populations with symphonic music. The SBSO also provides music to local schools through educational programs.
The orchestra and Cani will be performing Tchaikovsky’s ‘Violin Concerto’, and the orchestra will present Dvorak’s ‘New World Symphony’. Printing companies are no doubt busily turning out the season’s programs. Although the event will be free, the organization asks that attendees reserve tickets.
The concert will be held October 4, at the historic California Theater for the Performing Arts, 562 West 4th Street, San Bernardino, from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
