Jazz lovers can unite next week, as California State University in San Bernardino (CSUSB) will be presenting Gordon Goodwin and his Big Phat Band.
Goodwin and his band will be performing as part of the CSUSB’s free summer concert series happening every Monday night on the college’s campus. People of all ages are invited to attend. The Big Phat Band is comprised of 18 jazz players in Los Angeles, with a sound that ranges from swing to rock. Example songs include: ‘Hit the Ground Running’, ‘Backrow Politics’, ‘Sing Sang Sung’, and ‘Too Close For Comfort’.
Goodwin has made a name for himself in Hollywood as successful composer and arranger for television shows and movies. Those who attend the concert may want to bring a high resolution camera for taking pictures that can later be used for poster printing.
The group won a Grammy in 2006 for their arrangement of ‘Incredits’, a number that featured in the animated Disney Pixar movie ‘The Incredibles’.
The concert will be held Monday, July 28, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Lower Commons Plaza on the CSUSB campus at 5500 University Parkway, San Bernardino. Admission is free and parking is without charge in Lot D. Attendees are advised to bring blankets and lawn chairs for a fun-filled evening under the stars.
