What's Happening in San Bernardino, CA…

College to reopen botanical garden for spring

Late April is the time for the Botanical Gardens at San Bernardino Valley College to get its grand reopening.

The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a showcase of the college’s science division, and a self-guided tour. Food and refreshments will be available.

The reopening comes after the completion of the garden’s recent construction. The remodeling was necessary with the construction of a brand new technical building in the spring of 2022. More walking paths for visitors, expanded interpretive signage, and a unique plant propagation site for growing local flora were part of the remodel.

Following a weed removal effort last year, more room was made for local plants to thrive, including the fruiting cacti. A planned bee hotel to help support local native solitary bees and provide them with an egg-laying habitat is also part of the new additions to the garden.

The garden is part of the SBVC school campus, but it is also an accessible attraction for members of the public in the larger community. It includes a unique environment for insects, other invertebrates, plants, birds, and lizards to thrive.

Community garden events like these may choose to use graphic design services for promotional material and websites.

The Science Division Botanical Gardens Grand Reopening is happening at on Thursday, April 24 from noon to 3:00 pm at the San Bernardino Valley College campus southeast of the HLS building. The event is free to attend.
