Halloween festival to haunt Monrovia

The streets of Old Town in Monrovia will be transformed with monsters, ghosts and ghouls when the 2026 Halloween Spooktacular and Trick-or-Treat Bash happen this October.

The event will feature activities with the library and other vendors, photo booths, trick-or-treating and a costume contest with multiple categories.

This year’s costume judging contest includes Best Youth Costume, Best Adult Costume, Best Group Costumes, Best Family Costumes and Best Dog Costume. Registration for the costume contest takes place on the same day as Spooktacular.

Each subcategory of the costume contest will have a full-blown runway featuring all of the contestants in that group, known as a Parade of Characters, followed by the announcement of the winners.

From Darth Vader to Where’s Waldo, to scarecrows, Mickey Mouse and dinosaurs, the costumes typically seen tap into a vast array of pop culture touchstones.

During this free festival, several streets around Old Town will be closed, including Myrtle Ave from Palm Ave to Walnut Ave, the 100 block of W Palm Ave and the 100 block of W Lime Ave, though the mid-block parking lot of the latter will remain open for customers and vendors.

Halloween festivals like this may choose to use banner printing to create Signs for vendors and attractions.

The 2026 Halloween Spooktacular and Tick-or-Treat Bash takes place on October 31 from 3 pm to 6 pm at Library Park at 321 S Myrtle Ave in Monrovia.
