The annual festival known as Monrovia Days is returning to Library Park this May.
Serving as the City of Monrovia’s birthday celebration, the event also highlights youth in the community with Monrovia Unified School District scholars and education champions.
Presented by the school district, Center Stage Inc. and the city, Monrovia Days spans four days of celebrations, including a parade with a Western theme, Famous Merengue’s Bakery Pie Eating Contest, youth performances, carnival rides, food vendors, games and live musical entertainment.
The festival begins on a Thursday, kicking off with the parade, and spans the entire weekend following it. There will be a Friends of the Library Book Sale on each weekend day.
A Yesteryear Exhibit explores Monrovia’s history in the Multi-Purpose Room. A parade awards ceremony will also be held on the Saturday of the event. On that same day, the pie-eating contest is no slouch, as the top prize is $300, with $150 given to the runner-up, and $50 awarded to 3rd place.
In terms of entry fees, they are designated through the sale of wristbands, which can range from single-day to three-day. The wristbands grant the user unlimited carnival rides, photo booth and games.
Festivals like this may choose to use banner printing to make Signs for carnival rides and food vendors.
The Monrovia Days festival is happening from May 14 to May 17 at Library Park at 321 S Myrtle Ave in Monrovia.
