Chart-topper to rock Monrovia-area venue

The Arcadia Performing Arts Center in the Monrovia area is getting a dose of rocker John Waite this September.

Nicknamed The Golden Voice of Rock, Waite’s pop cultural impact was felt with some of his biggest hits from the 70s to the 90s.

Having served as the front man for multiple bands over the years, Waite’s vocal talents contributed to the globally chart-topping songs “When I See You Smile” by Bad English and “Isn’t it Time” by The Babys.

As a solo artist, Waite brought one of the most impactful commercial successes of his career with the No. 1 hit song “Missing You.” The song was nominated for a Grammy in 1985 for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

Though the course of his career focused on rock music crafted for an album experience, Waite has touched upon a variety of subgenres, including glam metal, power ballads, new wave, arena rock and power pop.

Waite has performed consistently throughout his more than 40-year career. The UK-born singer said he has a particular formula for creating set lists, sticking to eight must-play tracks of tried-and-true fan-favorite hits, while mixing in more of the deep cuts and experimental tracks.

Concerts like this may choose to use graphic design to create promotional material in Print and online.

John Waite is performing on September 26 at 8 pm at the Arcadia Performing Arts Center at 188 Campus Dr in Arcadia.
