Upcoming art show open to everyone
The Weekend of Art is taking place in just a few days’ time, presented by the Los Alamitos Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Commission.
This visual art exhibition is open to residents and nonresidents of all ages and abilities, although each person is only allowed to enter one piece. Each item chosen for display must be accompanied by a 3 x 5-inch description card which is provided by the artist. Awards will be handed out for first, second, and third place, as well as honorable mentions in the form of the Mayors, Commissioners Curators and Art Educators Awards. Categories of acceptable work include sculpture, pottery, fiber arts, and printmaking.
All of the accepted pieces are chosen by Michael Bell. The artists have to choice as to whether or not their works will be offered for sale.
The awards will be handed out at a reception on May 1 at 3:00 pm. Guests will meet the artists and enjoy food and beverages while they are entertained by musical guests. This Los Alamitos event will no doubt attract some future professional artists and graphic design experts.
The Weekend of Art will be held at the Los Alamitos Community Center from April 29 to May 1. Admission is free of charge. For more information, contact the Los Alamitos Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Commission at 562-430-1073.
