The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts in the Los Alamitos area is hosting a concert by Motown hit makers The Miracles and The Spinners.
The Miracles have the distinction of being the first group to ever sign with Motown Records. While there is now a new lineup of vocalists who perform under The Miracles moniker, founding member and “First Lady of Motown” Claudette Robinson still spearheads the group to this day. She and co-founder Smokey Robinson are responsible for hits like “I Second That Emotion,” “Love Machine,” “You’ve Really Got a Hold On Me,” “Shop Around” and “Tears of A Clown.”
The Miracles’ modern lineup includes Sydney Justin, Kerry Justin, Cordell Hamilton Conway and Eric “Swinn” Swindle.
The Spinners are also a group that has a legacy with Motown, gaining national attention under that label with their hit co-written by Stevie Wonder, “It’s a Shame,” which peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Their other hits include “The Robberband Man” and “I’ll Be Around.” In 2023, The Spinners were chosen to be included in the pantheon of music legends by joining the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
