Triathlon event gathering pace
Locals are invited to join Los Alamitos in the largest sprint reverse triathlon in the nation in early 2015.
The ‘Race on the Base’ is an annual event presented by the City of Los Alamitos and the California National Guard.
Proceeds from the Race on the Base event will benefit the USA Water Polo National Training Center. The center is part of the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base. Some proceeds will also be donated to the Morale Welfare Recreation for Military.
Various events are offered, including a 5K run or walk, 10K run, 1K mission for kids aged 10 and under, a reverse triathlon for individuals or teams, and a Jr. reverse triathlon for kids ages 7 to 12.
A $5 discount is offered to all military, fire, and police personnel using a specific code at time of registration. Appropriate identification is required.
Over 50 vendors are expected to participate from Los Alamitos and surrounding communities. The vendors offer various merchandise for sale, such as race and running gear, shoes, and clothing. The vendors will also provide water and key chains and visitors are encouraged to stop by the booths.
Banner printing is part of preparing for a vendor project. Printed on heavy vinyl and placed within the vendors’ area, the banners serve as signage.
The event will be held on February 28, 2015. For more information, visit the Race on the Base website.
