Los Alamitos warms up for weekend of races

The 38th Los Alamitos Race on the Base will be held at the Los Alamitos Joint Training Base on 11200 Lexington Avenue. The event will have musical entertainment and a health expo, along with several race events.

One of them will be the Glow in the Dark Whimsical Fun Run, which is open to all ages. It will be held February 22 at 6:30 and at 6:50 pm, and consists of half-miles and one-mile races. Participants will receive a race shirt, bib, and finisher medal, and there is also a prize for glow-in-the-dark costumes.

This year, organizers have added a Goruck 5K Rucking Division. Rucking is a Special Forces Training technique of walking with a backpack carrying weights. Rucksacks can be purchased for this adult race.

A 5K Run Walk will remember fallen soldiers. The course will take one and a half hours to complete. Los Alamitos has Print shops that design Promotional Products for military organizations like this.

A Reverse Triathlon with put competitors through their paces with biking, swimming, and running. This race is open to both men and women. There is a 10K Run Wheel Chair/Hand Cycle race and a Jr. Reverse Triathlon for ages 12 and up.

The event will have live band performances on the Friday and a Health Fitness Expo for two days. Most races are held on Saturday, and participants who complete them receive a finisher’s medal.

The 38th Los Alamitos Race will be held February 22 from 1:30 pm to 8:00 pm, and February 23 from 5:30 am to 11:15 am. Parking is available at the Los Alamitos Training Base.
