Canning Hunger, an organization dedicated to fighting hunger in America, will soon be sending representatives to Los Alamitos, California as part of its Curbing Hunger program.
Starting next Monday, September 11, volunteers from the Curbing Hunger program who have been authorized by the city will be going around and painting the curbs in return for volunteer donations. Residents will be able to identify the volunteers as they will be wearing special T-Shirts adorned with the Canning Hunger Logo Design, and they will be carrying a card that shows their volunteer status. This program will be running until November 11 and all of the funds raised will go towards helping feed families, homeless people, and those with a low income throughout America.
Organizers advice that should an individual be approached by someone who is asking for payment in return for curb painting services, they should ask for identification as well as the permit given to them by the city. If anyone believes that a “volunteer” is not authorized by the city to paint curbs or is not part of the Curbing Hunger program, it is recommended by the city that the individual call the Public Works Department at 562-431-3538. The city will be able to verify whether or not an individual is authorized.
