Los Alamitos to give presentation on historic women

Rancho Los Alamitos will hold a history presentation later this week that shares stories about the women who used to live in the community.

Women's Work: Looking Back, Looking Forward is an educational program where attendees can discover local history while learning about notable women from the 20th Century. The lecture will go over the experiences of women in the past and discuss significant societal changes that took place through the Industrial Revolution. The event's lecturer is Ambyr Hardy, an anthropologist and educator whose research is focused on positive social change.

Rancho Los Alamitos is a historical landmark in Long Beach City that is also known as the Ranch of the Little Cottonwoods. The site is featured in the National Register of Historic Places and has four acres of gardens. The property also features a restored barn house from the early 20th Century. People can help support the landmark by volunteering to run the venue's gift shop, maintain its gardens, and check guests in. Individual memberships for Rancho Los Alamitos will cost $100 per person.

The history program will be held this Thursday, August 29 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Doors to the presentation will open at 5:30 pm. People can pay $10 to attend the lecture, and members of the historic site will receive free admission. Organizations that organize similar informative activities can use poster printing to promote their lectures to more people.
