Los Alamitos residents will be able to learn life-saving skills when a Stop The Bleed training course is held at Cypress College this fall.
The event teaches participants three quick actions they can take to save a life if they are in the situation of being in the presence of an injured person who is bleeding. According to The American College of Surgeons, bleeding is the number one cause of death after an injury occurs.
People who join the training will be taught how to identify when bleeding threatens a life, and be able to take steps to quickly address it, such as through the use of a tourniquet.
The trainings, which are slated for multiple days in September, October and November, are free and open to the public, as well as students and staff from Cypress College. There are limited seats and reservations must be made online.
All participants who successfully accomplish the training will receive a certificate of completion and be entered in a drawing to win an STB kit for personal use.
Health events like this may choose to use flyer printing to advertise at local schools, grocery stores or on the street.
The Stop The Bleed events are happening on September 11, Noon-1pm; October 20, 2 pm-3 pm; and November 13, 9 am-10 am. All the events are being held in CCPLX-419 at Cypress College at 9200 Valley View St. in nearby Cypress.
