The community can join Los Alamitos as the city celebrates the holiday of Feria de Abril this August at the St. Isidore Historical Plaza.
Feria de Abril is a tradition that originated in Seville, Spain, where locals would dedicate an entire week to eating, dancing, and enjoying the company of friends and family. The holiday is typically celebrated in April, but the city has postponed the event for August this year instead. The festival will feature a Spanish market in addition to activities designed for children. Those of legal drinking ages can also purchase sangria, beer, and wine during the event.
Attendees can experience traditional Spanish food at the festival, including several variations of paella. A vegetarian version of the dish will be available for those who wish to avoid meat. Guests can also join free dance classes offered before and during the event, teaching students about Sevillanas and Rumbas. There will even be flamenco shows held that feature over 100 performers. Businesses that attend popular festivals like this can create promotional Pens to pass out to customers.
Feria de Abril will be held on Saturday, August 1st, and Sunday, August 2nd. Tickets to the event can be bought for $35. Those interested in trying paella can purchase the dish for $15. A festival pass for both days will cost people $60, which will also include two servings of mixed paella.
