Los Alamitos navy facility to host fundraiser

NavyLife SW at Seal Beach in Los Alamitos will be organizing a fundraiser in May to support Navy personnel.

The Navy's 34th Bay Bridge Run/Walk is a virtual event where participants can get active while helping support quality of life programs for those in the Navy. The fundraiser is hosted by the Navy Region Southwest Morale, Welfare and Recreation Program. Benefits of the program include free movie theaters, child care centers, and access to gymnasiums. The event will also partner with the Navy Gold Star Program to honor fallen members and their surviving families.

The organizers have added a new addition to the activity that allows athletes to partake in a training challenge. Those who enter the challenge are tasked with moving 26.2 miles through any physical exercise of their choosing. People can earn virtual trophies to celebrate each milestone during their training. All participants will be using the honor system to track and record their progress. Organizations holding events such as this can advertise their special activities with flyer printing.

The fundraiser will be held from May 9th to May 16th. Registration for adults will cost $38, while children will only need to pay $25. Prices will increase after March 31st. Those who register online by April 30th will receive a finishers medal, t-shirt, and race number. People who wish to sponsor a sailor can send them a gift for $30.
