Los Alamitos Education Foundation raises $214,000

The Los Alamitos Education Foundation recently raised $214,000 through their King and Queen of Hearts Campaign.

George and Linda Sagen were given the titled of the King and Queen of Hearts at the Grand on February 8. They have lived in Los Alamitos for more than 40 years and attended Los Alamitos schools.

The King and Queen of Hearts campaign is a 9-week fund raising campaign for Los Alamito schools. Four couples participated in this successful campaign.

The other three royal couples are Jim and Vhenus Belisle, Tony and Rachel DeMarco, and Paul and Jen Rohdenburg.

The royal court couples raised more than $214,000, beating the previous year’s total of $210,000. The Sagens raised the most money.

Carrie Logue, LAEF, executive director, said they were impressed by the hard work and dedication of all the royal court couples. Our volunteers inform new community members about our educational mission she said.

There sponsors were on hand to celebrate. These sponsors were SXS Industries, Southern Credit Union, Wells Fargo, and Jen Rohdenburg Group. They held a jazz combo at the Los Alamitos High School.

The President Kevin Guetig of LAEF says the proceeds will benefit their school’s science, technology, engineering, arts, and math programs. It gives instruction and seminars for all schools.
