Los Alamitos choir named among the nations best

The Los Alamitos High School Choir has secured a place among the top choirs in the USA, according to Soundfly, an online resource for music education. The results were published in its magazine Flypaper.

The article commended the six different ensembles of the choir for winning championships, performances, and developing skills in students. The six ensembles are Axcent, Xquisite, Connexion, Xtreme, Soundtrax, and Sound FX.

The choir is directed by David Moellenkamp, assistant principal, along with assistant director Moana Dherlin. The chorus is known for developing student creativity, performance skills, and excelling in competitions.

During 2018/2019, the choir will head to Nashville and compete at the Grand Ole Opry for the 6th Consecutive National Championship.

The choir will be recording with Major Parkinson, a Norwegian rock band, for the second time.

The Los Alamito High School Choir holiday show will be called Let There Be Peace and will be performed at the Los Alamitos Performing Arts Center at 3591 West Cerritos Avenue.

The show will be on offer on December 6 at 7:00 pm, December 7 at 7:00 pm, and on December 8 at 12:30 pm, 4:00 pm, and 8:00 pm.
