Los Alamitos celebrates springs return with carnival

The Spring Carnival is set to return to Los Alamitos.

The carnival is being organized by the City of Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services and is sponsored by MemorialCare Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital Long Beach.

At last year’s event, put together by Recreation Supervisor Kristina Villaluna and Recreation Coordinator Angel Hernandez, the carnival welcomed community members — despite the rain — to enjoy family-friendly activities, including a giant egg hunt. Attendees came prepared by showing up with umbrellas and wearing rain boots and raincoats.

Last year’s event also included plenty of food, balloon animal play, a photo opportunity with Peter Rabbit, games, music, face painting and more.

The main egg hunt attraction was separated by age, with children two years old and younger given their own half-hour block to collect eggs. The egg hunt was held in a large fenced-off space in the center of the carnival. There were 15,000 eggs of various pastel colors, along with a few golden eggs. Those who found the golden eggs were awarded special prizes.

There were also five food vendors and 20 informational vendors at the carnival last year.

Vendors at carnival events like these may choose to use banner printing to make their businesses stand out to customers.

The Los Alamitos Spring Carnival is happening on April 19 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Little Cottonwood Park on 4000 Farquhar Avenue. The event is completely free.
