A gathering and stroll to promote friendship and support for those experiencing reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome (RSD) is being held in a Los Alamitos area park this spring. The event will be held at Veterans Park in Cypress.
RSD is also known as Type I complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and is a chronic pain condition affecting one of the arms or legs. The symptoms include burning pain, skin sensitivity, and changes to the skin’s temperature, color, and texture. Decreased mobility and joint stiffness are also symptoms. The cause of RSD is unknown, but it can be triggered by tissue injury without an associated nerve injury.
The Orange County Survivors and Caregivers Support Group is organizing the event for people and families affected by CRPS/RSD, as well as associated caregivers and family supporters. The Southern California Friendship Gathering and Stroll will include a lunch and social opportunities.
The stroll portion takes place around the park’s half-mile path. However, there will also be chairs set up for people who need to take breaks. Those who use walkers, wheelchairs, or other mobility assistance are welcome to participate.
Support group events like this may choose to use business card printing to keep in touch with participants, clients, and organization partners.
The CRPS/RSD SoCal Friendship Gathering and Stroll is happening on Saturday, June 7 at 10:30 am at Veterans Park in Cypress, at 4626 Avenida Granada.
