The community can enter the 2019 School Ghoul Los Alamitos 5K Run/Walk event this October at Rush Park.
School Ghoul Los Alamitos is an event that was founded in 2010 by Gus Quinonez as a way to raise money for the Los Alamitos United School District. The funds raised from the race will go towards the Los Alamitos Education Foundation (LAEF), a nonprofit group that offers enrichment classes and experiences for students. LAEF holds after-school programs and summer courses to keep children well-educated throughout the year.
There will be many activities that people can enjoy during the races, such as visiting a pumpkin patch and attending a pancake breakfast. Those interested in racing can choose between a traditional 5K run/walk or an open one miler. After the event finishes, a costume contest will be held. The 2019 School Ghoul Los Alamitos 5K Run/Walk will be held on October 27 from 6:00 am to 10:00 am. Those who wish to join the race can pay $45 the day of the event or purchase admission ahead of time for a reduced price. The pancake breakfast will cost $7 per person.
