Emergency preparation classes to take place in Los Alamitos next month

The West County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), will be holding certification classes in Los Alamitos, California next month.

The program sets out to educate people about being prepared during a disaster, and training them to carry out important emergency tasks such as search and rescue short a situation arise.

Those that become certified will be ready to assist others in the event of a major disaster should emergency responders not be at the scene immediately. The classes that aspiring CERT members should expect to take include triage, disaster psychology, and fire suppression.

The classes will be taking place at the Joint Forces Training Base, Building 244 at 11200 Lexington Drive on the 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th of April.

The Friday sessions (7th and 14th) will last three hours from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and the Saturday sessions (8th and 15th) will last nine hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The certification course is available for everyone aged 14 and over in Los Alamitos and the surrounding areas, such as Seal Beach, Buena Park, and Westminster.
