Dog and horse night given July date

The 19th Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals will be held this summer at the Los Alamitos Race Course, which is located on Katella Avenue.

The proceeds from the event benefit the Seal Beach Animal Care Center, which is a non-profit organization providing assistance for stray animals. The first race will begin with a live horse racing program, and this will be coordinated with the dachshund races as the evening continues. The event has assisted in raising over $200,000 for the center to date.

Based on the format of a Quarter Horse race, the wiener race will consist of 80 doxies showing off in front of a full house. There will be a total of 10 trial heats. The participants submitted entries and were selected on their creativity.

Free programs will be available at all track entrances for the nationals, and these will highlight participants rather than the schedule. Program and catalog printing is often handled by local Print companies, and allows for the exposure of sponsors’ names.

The celebrity dogs of the night will be available for a meet and greet after the event, while the trainers or owners will be at the grandstand.

The horse races will begin at 6:30 pm on July 19, and dogs will start playing their part at 9:15 pm. Visit the Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals website for full information.
