Dachshunds needed for annual race
The Los Alamitos Race Course in Los Alamitos, California, which will be hosting the 22nd Annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals, is currently seeking dachshunds for the upcoming race
Those who would like to enter their dog into the race will have to explain to the race course why their pet is the “Fastest Wiener In The West”, and give them a photograph of the dog as well as their contact info by June 12.
Entries can be emailed to larace@losalamitos.com or sent by mail to an address provided on the website. In total, 100 dogs will be competing in 50-yard dashes, 10 will be competing for cash prizes, and the winner will be given $1,000, a Wienerschnitzel dog house, and a trophy that declares them ‘Fastest Wiener in the West’.
Tickets for the event will be sold by the Seal Beach Animal Care Center, a non-profit, no-kill shelter located in Seal Beach, at the event and will cost $5 each. T-shirts will also be sold by the care center and all money raised from the T-shirt and tickets sales will go to the Seal Beach Animal Care Center. VIP seating in the Vessels Club can be reserved by calling 714-820-2681.
