Boardriders acquires Billabong company

Boardriders Incorporated, a company based near Los Alamitos, California in Huntington Beach that owns brand names such as Roxy, Quicksilver and DC Shoes, recently announced that it has acquired Billabong as part of their umbrella of companies.

Boardriders Inc. is a company that focuses on designing and creating footwear, Apparel, and accessories that appeal to individuals who live active lifestyles. Under the acquisition, for which Boardriders Inc. bought out Billabong for approximately $139m, Boardriders will now be adding other major brand names such as Element and RVCA to its roster and now has ownership of over 625 retail stores in around 100 countries. Despite the purchase of the company, Boardriders has stated that it will continue to honor what the Billabong brand has sought to do and will continue to design products with the Billabong mission and aesthetic in mind.

The CEO of Boardriders Inc., Dave Tanner, made an announcment about the merging of the two companies, saying:



"Today marks the beginning of what will be a turning point for our industry. With the combination of Boardriders and Billabong, we bring together the best of both companies, creating a dynamic enterprise under the Boardriders umbrella."
