What's Happening in Los Alamitos, CA…

Annual run expected to attract 8,000 participants

The 35th annual Los Alamitos Race on the Base is being held next month at the Joint Forces Training Base.

Leading up to the race, there will be a two-day health and fitness expo, which is set to feature more than 50 local vendors. This is also the location at which participants can pick up their packets and race bags. During the event, music will be provided by the cover band Knyght Ryder and the 1K Glow in the Dark Kids’ Run for children aged 14 and younger will take place on the first day.

The races taking place during the Race on the Base are a 5K ($37 entry fee), a 10K ($40), and a reverse triathlon. The triathlon will consist of a 5K Run, 13.1-mile bike ride, and a 200-meter swim, for which fees are $85 for adults, $45 for children, and $47 for relay team members. Awards will be given for winners in various age categories, as well as the top three overall male and female runners.

With organizers expecting around 8,000 runners from Los Alamitos and surrounding communities, local print companies may be providing the pledge forms.

The event will be held at the Joint Forces Training Base from February 26 to 27. To find out more, become a vendor, or participate, call 562-795-8900.
