Parade to crown anniversary celebrations

The city of La Palma has been celebrating the 60th anniversary of its founding all during the year and, as part of its annual La Palma Day celebration, will continue the festivities in a couple of weeks with a parade.

The parade is officially designated as the ‘Official Veterans Day Parade of Orange County’. There will also be other activities for those that wish to attend.

The parade will include more than 200 participants including marching bands from several local schools, veterans’ organizations, local celebrities, businesses, politicians, the fire department, and many others. There will also be a host of activities geared towards the young, from preschool to young adults. There will be rides, and children who color a La Palma Days color sheet can get reduced price tickets.

The parade will also feature members of the Ambassador Program (including the winner of the Ambassador contest) which sponsors young adults looking to gain professional and leadership skills. There will be approximately 30 vendors selling a variety of food. Those who will be participating in the parade may wish to have banner printing done as a way to represent their organization or group.

The parade will take place Saturday, November 14, starting at 10:00 am, along Walker Street, beginning at Houston Street and ending at La Palma Avenue. There is no cost to attend, but there will be many vendors selling food.
