André Rieu will be at the Honda Center in Anaheim for one concert. Rieu was born in Maastricht in the Netherlands, which is still his home base, and where his father was the conductor of the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra. He loved music all his life, and began violin lessons when he was five. He trained at the Conservatoire Royal in Liège, the Conservatorium Maastricht, the Music Academy in Brussels, and finally completed his education at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he won the “Premier Prix” distinction.
Rieu says he loved the sound of a symphony orchestra, but was surprised that audiences seemed so solemn, as if they were not allowed to laugh or make a sound. He felt this approach was one of the reasons people stayed away from classical music. He created his own ensemble, the Johann Strauss Orchestra, to be lively, engaging, and fun. He succeeded, with the result that Rieu has sold over 40 million DVDs and CDs, and hit the No. 1 spot on the charts 30 times worldwide.
A concert review says:
“It was an amazing, emotional concert! He is the best!!! Music choices were awesome, as well as the musicians. I totally loved it!”
Rieu will be in Anaheim, near La Palma, on March 2, at 8:00 pm. Poster printing is frequently used to successfully promote events such as this.
