La Palma committee meeting scheduled

An advisory committee has scheduled its next meeting in La Palma.

The Development and Circulation Committee is comprised of citizens-at-large, who are charged with advising the City Council about proposed developments. The committee Checks to make sure the developments are consistent with the city's General Plan, as well as City Code Chapter 44, usually referred to simply as the “Zoning Code.”

The committee members also advise members of the City Council on matters that fall under the “Vehicles and Traffic” chapter of the City Code. The traffic considerations also fall under the “Circulation Element” in the city's General Plan. There are many issues to be considered in regard to traffic in La Palma. The topics the advisory committee has input on include reviewing, surveying, and recommending plans that would improve parking; the enforcement and administration of traffic laws; how to improve traffic conditions; how to handle complaints about traffic; and reviewing, surveying, and making recommendations about traffic in general.

The committee is also the authority that approves amendments to Precise Plans for single-family homes, and Master Sign programs. Precise Plans are used to coordinate improvements to specific properties that have some quality (size, shape) that needs special attention.

The Development and Circulation Committee meeting is scheduled for August 10, at 7:00 pm, at City Hall. Flyer printing can create agenda that is helpful for events such as this.
