La Palma shuts down its city offices for a winter break annually; employees are required to use vacation days or other earned leave during the temporary closure, which is coming up soon.
All La Palma city offices will shut down near Christmas. This includes the Police Administration, Public Works, and Recreation Departments, as well as City Hall. The police are always available, however, for emergencies, or for other difficulties that may arise that require the City to make an immediate response, such as a water leak.
Officials suggest that customers who would like to pay their water bill during the closure do so either by phone, or on line. They are invited to call EDCO at 714-522-3577; or pay via the website at www.edcodisposal.com. They should click “Pay Your Bill”, located at the top of the page. They may also physically drop their payments off at the dropbox, which is outside City Hall.
The schedule for trash pick-up is changing slightly as well. On Christmas Day and New Year's Day, trash collection will be moved back one day. That is, people who usually have trash picked up Monday will have it removed Tuesday instead; Tuesday's collection will be Wednesday, and so on.
Officials who are celebrating holidays like this could work with a banner printing company to create Banners for all public offices.
