Chief Kim is a native of South Korea who came to the United States as a teenager. He was a student at Magnolia High School in Anaheim, and attended Cal State Long Beach for three years, where he studied electrical engineering. However, his interest in law enforcement led him to enroll in the Fullerton College Police Academy in 1994. The La Palma police hired him while he was still in the academy.
Chief Kim has served La Palma for 22 years in various posts, and after serving for ten years as a sergeant, he was promoted to captain in 2014. He has a degree in criminal justice management.
Captain Wilkerson has been with the La Palma police for 20 years, and is currently a watch commander with the patrol division. Over his career, Captain Wilkerson has served as a motor office and Rangemaster, among other positions. He holds the Medal of Valor, the highest honor the police department bestows.
