La Palma is planning a community event that will make the city event more beautiful.
Arbor Day is coming up, and La Palma is celebrating the occasion by asking residents to come out and plant trees. In addition, the winners of the coloring and art contests will be presented, and crafters will be on hand with their creations.
The coloring and art contests are open to young people, who may download Forms from the city's website, or pick them up at the La Palma Community Services Office. The deadline for entry is April 6, and the Forms will be available in March.
The city is also involved with a Tree Sponsorship Program, and is looking for individuals, organizations, and community groups who would like to become sponsors and help buy new trees. Donations of any amount are welcome, but they should be brought or sent to the La Palma Recreation & Community Service Department at Central Park, accompanied by a sponsorship form. Donations are due April 13.
Arbor Day is celebrated in all the states, several U.S. Territories, and Puerto Rico. It was begun in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton, and recognizes the beauty and value of trees. La Palma's Arbor Day Celebration is scheduled for April 21, in Central Park, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Banner printing can be used to provide colorful decorations for outdoor events like this.
