Fundraiser to fight homelessness near La Palma

A local nursing expert is hosting a fundraiser to battle the issue of homelessness.

Anthony Brown is the founder of Brown Manor, and the director and founder of Coordinating & Assisting Recovery Environments (C.A.R.E.) in Anaheim, California. Brown has a B.S. in Nursing, and used his knowledge to develop a long-term residential treatment protocol, which led him to purchase what will become Brown Manor. When completed, the facility will provide a safe space for people with mental health issues to recover from substance use, abuse, and childhood trauma.

The upcoming event is a fundraiser for the Jeanette Joan Saffold Foundation, which works to combat homelessness. As such, they are working to support Brown Manor in their efforts to provide the structured, safe environment that will allow individuals to be their own advocates, and work to return to society.

The event includes a silent auction, dinner, live entertainment courtesy of comedian Patrick Loborio, and a special presentation from Dr. Drew Pinsky, the guest speaker. Dr. Pinsky is known to his radio and TV audiences simply as “Dr. Drew.,” and he is the host of a number of podcasts including “Dr. Drew After Dark,” and the “Dr. Drew Podcast.”

The Jeanette Joan Saffold Foundation Fundraiser is September 9, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm, at the Cypress Community Center in Cypress, a few miles from La Palma. Events like this are the perfect place for people with similar interests to exchange Business Cards.
