Event to promote summer safety

Every season presents safety concerns, and an upcoming event will give area residents tips on dealing with those that occur in the warmer months.

Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk Silva is teaming up with the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) to present a Summer Safety Event to take place in Buena Park, a short distance from La Palma.

The meeting is for members of the public and is designed to present safety tips on subjects such as home safety, particularly regarding wildfires and home fires; general public safety; and awareness of safety with regard to vector control in relation to varmints, bugs, and mosquitos. Pool safety measures and barbeque safety measures will also be discussed.

The National Safety Council is also a valuable resource for staying safe during the summer. The Council points out that just summer weather by itself can be dangerous, as it can cause heat stroke and heat exhaustion, both of which can rapidly worsen and lead to more serious conditions.

The safety meeting is scheduled for Saturday, June 25, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. The venue is the Orange County Fire Authority station in Buena Park, only a short journey from La Palma, at 7440 La Palma Avenue. Organizers of informative events of this type can use flyer printing to create handouts for those attending the meeting.
