An upcoming event in La Palma will allow community members to build stronger relationships.
The city is planning a Civic Expo in connection with National Night Out, which will occur soon. The Civic Expo will feature booths from various organizations that provide services to La Palma. These include community non-profit organizations, municipal departments, public safety departments such as police and fire, and utility companies that partner with the city. Visitors to the expo will have a chance to learn how the city departments function, and how the city works with its service providers.
National Night Out, as the name suggests, is a nation-wide campaign to help build strong, positive relationships between police departments and the residents they serve. When residents and police interact in positive situations instead of crises, the connection helps make neighborhoods safer and more pleasant places in which to live. The specifics of each event are left up to the community, but many host cookouts, parades, festivals, block parties, and more.
In addition to meeting people, attendees will learn disaster preparedness from experts, as well as listening to the last Concert in the Park of 2020. There will also be games and food to make the day even more fun for the entire family.
The Civic Expo is scheduled for August 8, beginning at 5.30 pm in Central Park on Walker Street, where banner printing can be used to create decorations for outdoor events like this. There is no admission charge.
