Symphony in the Cities is visiting Irvine in August. The free summer event will feature a variety of classic favorites, including patriotic tunes and music from popular Broadway musicals, as well as pop songs.
Pacific Symphony will be performing the concert. The symphony, which was founded in 1978, takes pride in its artistic growth and impact on the communities it visits and performs in. It is the largest orchestral institution ever to be founded in the United States.
The performers also include Kresley Figueroa as the vocalist and Michael Repper as the conductor. Attendees are welcome to sing along.
Family and friends can gather with blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic dinners to enjoy the show, and the event offers more than just music. Prior to the symphony performance, the Musical Playground will provide hands-on children's activities that include games, crafts, and a drum circle. Children can make instruments and learn how to conduct music. They can then help lead the orchestra during the "Hands Across the Sea" performance at the end of the concert. The Musical Playground begins at 5:30 p.m.

The Irvine edition of Symphony in the Cities will take place at Mike Ward Community Park, which is located at 20 Lake Road. The symphonic performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15.
