The City of Irvine is offering a free tax preparation service at the Harvard Community Center this spring.
Created in partnership with the Orange County United Way, the OC Free Tax Prep service is available to taxpayers who made less than $69,000 last year and who work, live, or go to school in Irvine. Certified volunteers with IRS training will be on hand assisting people.
Participants can get help with their tax credits application, including the federal Earned Income Tax Credit and the California Earned Income Tax Credit.
People who want to attend need to create an appointment ahead of time, which can be done by either calling 211 or 1-888-600-4357 and choosing option 7. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated. There is also an option to file online, for qualifying participants, at OCFreeTacPrep.com.
The tax preparers may also advise people who are working parents on how to apply for the Child Tax Credit and the California Young Child Tax Credit, which offers support to the families of qualifying recipients. Personal finance events like this may choose to use printing services to create step-by-step instructions, supply lists, and promotional Flyers.
The OC Free Tax Prep Service is happening from February 3 through April 7 on Tuesdays from noon to 6:00 pm at the Harvard Community Center at 14701 Harvard Ave. in Irvine.
