With spring around the corner, the OCE Fair and Event Center in the Irvine area is offering Discovery Day at the Farm events in April.
On two separate days, the Centennial Farm at the fairgrounds will host the events, aimed at students who want to explore their curiosity about crops and agriculture. The public events are popular among parent groups looking for field trip opportunities for their kids. Self-guided tours, crop education, livestock interactions, radish seed planting, oxen demonstrations, and lessons
about chicks are just some of the activities available.
The events are open-ended, not restricted to a specific guide or program, and are open to all ages and grade levels. However, there will be farmers on site supervising various activity stations who can answer questions and give information to students.
After a quick check-in, participants will receive a map, letting them know what zones of interest are available to explore. Farming events like this may choose to use Print shops to create maps, as well as seed labels, instruction sheets, and supply lists.
Discovery Day at the Farm is happening on April 2 and April 22 from 9:00 am to noon each day at the OC Fair and Event Center Centennial Farm at 88 Fair Drive in Costa Mesa. There will also be opportunities in May and June for those unable to commit to next month.
