The surf rock duo Skegss is bringing their sound to the UC Theatre in Berkley.
The Australian-based band’s latest album is called Pacific Highway Music. Pacific Highway is the name of a freeway in Australia and the U.S. Both countries have inspired the album.
Skegss bandmates Ben Reed and Jonny Lani explained that the album was partially inspired by — and meant to accompany — the feeling of zoning out in your car while on a road trip. In their case, it was inspired by trips along Australia’s Pacific Highway. However, there’s also a track, Cheyenne, inspired by being stuck in a snow blizzard for days in Wyoming while on tour in America.
Reed, the band’s frontman, and Lani are surfers from Byron Bay along the Australian coast. The band recently made other international stops on their tour, including debuting new material in London and performing at a surfing event in Hossegor, France. Now they’re bringing their surf-heavy tunes stateside.
Pacific Highway Music is the third album from Skegss. This also marks the first album as a duo since former bassist and founding member, Toby Cregan, left in 2023.
Rock concerts like these often choose to use flyer printing and poster printing as a cost-effective promotion method.
Skegss is performing music from their new album Pacific Highway Music at the UC Theatre on March 7.
