Music lovers to enjoy the annual musical face off
The registration deadline has passed, so now the battle begins for those registered for the 53rd Annual Battle of the Bands in Berkeley.
This yearly event is a chance for bands to obtain exposure and win prizes while showcasing their musical talents in front of a live audience. It also affords an opportunity for bands to demonstrate their skills on a professional stage with high-tech equipment.
Band members could solicit the assistance from local printing companies to obtain banners to advertise their band, as well as premium business cards to ensure they are easily reachable to any talent scouts who may be on hand to hear them play.
A variety of prizes will be awarded, including the opportunity for musical exposure, photo shoots, or studio time, which could be just enough to give local bands their lucky break. Members of famous bands such as Deep Purple and Metallica have been previous title holders at this event.
The schedule for this event for those who have registered will begin with auditions at the Matt Jimenez Community Center this Saturday, January 16. The field of approximately 30 bands will be narrowed down to 12 finalists, and these will attend a finalist meeting held in February.
The events will conclude with the February 27 Battle of the Bands Performance for the top twelve. The event will be held at the Chabot College Performing Arts Center, and is sponsored by the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District
