Fun-pack festival reaches double figures

Those Berkeley residents who have never been to the city's Farmers' Market may wish to check it out during the upcoming Family Fun Festival.

Now in its 10th year, the event is hosted by the Ecology Center Farmers' Markets Program and takes place at the Downtown Berkeley Farmers' Market on Center Street at Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

The event promises to be a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with the family. There will be hula-hoop contests, an obstacle course, two bouncy houses, a skateboarding contest, face painting, and a strawberry walk for children. Adults may find the Chinese Medicine Summer Health Tips and the UC Botanical Garden exhibit of ‘World's Amazing Plants’ of interest.

This event will have environmental and health-conscious aspects, thanks not only to the availability of healthy locally-grown produce, but also the events and activities. An environmentally-themed library called the The Green Branch Reading Room will be on hand and welcome readers of all ages. Additionally, environmental artist Zach Pine will host a Create-With-Nature Zone.

The Family Fun Festival will take place 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 31. It is free to attend and open to the public. Often, banner printing services are used to advertise an event such as this one well in advance, thus helping to build excitement and give the public time to make plans to attend.
