The Berkeley Art Studio will be organizing a course in April to demonstrate how to properly create personalized Journals and sketchbooks.
The Bookbinding Workshop is a virtual class where students can see live step-by-step demonstrations of useful bookbinding techniques. Participants will be taught how to sew journal pages together and reinforce their Books to prevent them falling apart. Required materials for the course include an awl, bookbinding needle, waxed thread, and a bone folder. Students should also bring a ruler, scissors, and paper sketchpad to the presentation.
Rebecca Rippon will teach the workshop. She is a printmaking instructor at the Berkeley Art Studio who was educated at the San Francisco Art Institute. All classes at the studio are led by professional artists and cover various art subjects such as ceramics, photography, painting, and design. Team building workshops are also offered at the facility. Educational programs like this may advertise their future lessons by using poster printing.
The course will occur on Saturday, April 10 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The public can pay $60 to sign up for the class, while current college students can register for $40. Employees and university alumni will be charged $55 to join the lesson. All participants in the bookbinding program must be at least 18 years old. Students will not receive academic credits for completing the workshop.
