Erika the Bizerkeley Vegan will be organizing a food festival in Berkeley to support the Friends of Berkeley Animal Care Services (BACS).
The Bizerkeley Food Festival is an event that brings together more than 40 local vegan vendors to help fundraise for a good cause. Attendees can receive goodies to take home and try free food samples. There will be booths where guests can order desserts, soul food, tacos, and pupusas (flatbreads originating from Honduras and El Salvador).
The festival will be held outdoors at Sports Basement Berkeley. People may not eat inside of the venue unless permitted by the store’s staff, and no dogs will be allowed to attend the event. Visitors are asked to use the provided hand sanitizer stations and to do their best to stay socially distanced while waiting in food lines. Attendees can receive free masks from the organizers.
BACS is a non-profit organization comprising more than 1,000 volunteers. The group has several programs for assisting animals, such as placing pit bulls and managing feral cats. The animal shelter also received the Maddie’s Fund Lifesaving Award in 2009.
The food fest will be held on Sunday, September 4 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tickets will cost $25 per person, and kids 12 and under may attend for free. All guests will have access to free bottled water. Those in charge of festivals like this can advertise their events locally with flyer printing.
