The Berkeley Central Arts Passage has been home to the Pets and Animals exhibit since the end of September. The exhibit runs through January 24, so there is still time to visit the exhibition.
Posters advertising the event showcase over two dozen artists participating in the event. Many of the artists are well known in the Berkeley area. The event is curated by Expressions Gallery and cocurated by Mari Bailey. Expressions Gallery is a nonprofit organization located in Berkeley as well. It offers a variety of services to the area, including art classes and a variety of events throughout the year.
The exhibition was created to bring awareness to animals, from loving family pets including dogs, cats, and birds, to exotic and endangered species. The exhibition includes paintings and drawings along with sculptures of all the many different animals. Videos online, including one by artist Mathew Felix Sun, show the exhibition encased in pictures of house pets along with wildlife such as giraffes, lions, frogs, apes, and many species of birds.
Attendees may bring their pet for a photo session providing they contact organizers ahead of time to arrange a meeting.
Berkeley Central Arts Passage is located at 2055 Center St. The event is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturdays. For additional information, you may call Expressions Gallery Arts &Educational Center at 510-644-4930
