What's Happening in Tempe, AZ…

Tempe Center for the Arts is hosting Singalong Broadway this September.

In this interactive show that encourages the participation of audience members, people are encouraged to sing along to their favorite Broadway hits. That includes everything from Wicked’s “Defying Gravity” to Rent’s “Seasons of Love,” Les Misérables’ “One Day More” and Hairspray’s “You Can’t Stop The Beat,” among many others.

Bringing a high-energy presence to the stage, musical hosts shepherd the night along with a mix of live performances, group sing-alongs, remixes and Broadway trivia. The result is flash mob-type experience where people are known to get up from their seats and participate with dance and movement as much as they do with singing.

Specialty drinks, ballad medleys and a more open-ended format compared to traditional theatre settings will all be part of the festivities.

The show is aimed at musical theatre lovers and people are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters from the most well-known Broadway hits through the years.

There are also elements of comedy incorporated by the show hosts, who will also offer Broadway-themed games as well as solo performances.

Interactive performances like this may choose to use brochure printing to create lyric sheets, audience programs and set lists.

Singalong Broadway is happening on September 25 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at Tempe Center for the Arts at 700 W Rio Salado Pkwy in Tempe.
