Heist is coming to the Tempe Center for the Arts this January.
The theatrical stage play presented by Arizona Theatre Company is a thriller about a group of consummate thieves setting their sights on snatching the rarest set of jewels in the world.
Despite a bulletproof plan, the characters are taken on a non-stop adrenaline ride when the caper goes horribly wrong.
Full of twists, turns, and high stakes, Heist takes inspiration from thriller films of the same style, such as Ocean’s Eleven.
In addition, each team member soon becomes suspected of betraying the other, as stunning reveals and reversals will keep the audience guessing until the final scene.
The story also has an added twist as it weaves elements of time-manipulation, like the thrillers of Christopher Nolan, such as Inception and Memento.
Written by Arun Lakra, the stage show premiered in the playwright’s home of Canada in early 2024 before debuting in the US. Lakra is also a part-time screenwriter and eye surgeon, with his play Sequence winning multiple awards.

The Arizona Theatre Company’s production of Heist is happening on January 10 from noon to 2 pm at the Tempe Center for the Arts at 700 W Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe.
