The Tempe Public Library will soon by hosting an event with Kate Bivona featuring performances and educational activities surrounding the violin.
The family-friendly event aimed at ages 6 to 11 features the musical stylings of Bivona, who leads the local band Dirt Skirt. She also boasts a multi-instrumentalist background, is violinist who is classically trained, and is versed in writing, being a singer-songwriter and an educator.
Musical improvisational games, a talk about the violin traditions, training for the musical ear, and a selection of short pieces performed by Bivona are all planned activities for the event.
A teacher of private violin lessons, Bivona uses performance and education to emphasize making connections with others. She graduated with a Master's in Music from the University of Texas in Austin after gaining a Bachelor’s in Music from Arizona State University.
Bivona is also experienced with playing the electric guitar in addition to specializing in classical music, having begun performing her own original music back in 2017. She has also played with a variety of different bands in both Austin and Phoenix.
