Classic thriller screened in Tempe
Dial M for Murder will screen at the Tempe Library this September.
The screening of the 1954 Alfred Hitchcock thriller is part of the library’s Summer of Cinema series. The event, held each month throughout the summer season, features a variety of film genres and themes, with free popcorn provided. There will also be closed captioning.
Dial M for Murder centers on a former tennis star who arranges for the murder of his wife, who had an affair. Ray Milland’s Tony Wendice is convinced he is able to hatch the perfect murder plot against his wife, Grace Kelly’s Margot, after her lack of faithfulness in their marriage is discovered.
However, like many Hitchcock films, there are twists and turns along the way.
Also in the film is Tony’s hitman, Anthony Dawson’s Charles Swann; Margot’s lover, Robert Commings’ Mark Halliday; and John Williams’ Chief Inspector Hubbard on Tony’s trail.
With Tony’s tennis glory days behind him, his wife has become the main breadwinner, making an added financial motivation of wanting to inherit her fortune another wrinkle in the would-be killer’s plan.
Movie screenings like this may choose to use graphic design services for promotion on printed items.
Dial M for Murder will screen next Saturday, September 6 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Tempe Public Library’s Desert Willow Program Room at 3500 South Rural Road in Tempe.
