Famous literary story comes to childrens theater in Chandler

A renowned story originally conceived in a 1920s novel is due to be performed at a children’s theater in Chandler.

The Great Gatsby is coming to the Chandler Center as part of the venue’s Theatre Kids - Literature to Life programming and Signature Performance series. The story is being adapted for the stage and directed by Kelvin Grullon, and will be performed by Bryce Foley.

There will be a performance of The Great Gatsby in late January specifically for students attending via field trips, and another one in February that will have conventional ticketing for the general public.

Stage performances like these often need brochure printing for the playbill and poster printing to promote the shows.

Many critics consider The Great Gatsby to be a modern American literary classic. Many of the themes from the book have resonated across generations, owing to the story’s many film and stage adaptations. The novel touches upon themes of the American Dream, social disparity and what it means to live a fulfilled life during the Prohibition Era and Jazz Age in the U.S.

Author F. Scott Fitzgerald comes from a literary school known as Modernism, whose fellow alumni include Ernest Hemingway and Gertrude Stein, in the early 20th century.

The Great Gatsby is playing at the Chandler Center for general admission on Saturday, February 1.
