Rodney Carrington was born and raised in Longview, Texas, where he performed in clubs, learning his craft and building a following for his comedy by appearing on local radio shows. In 1998, he released “Hangin' with Rodney,” his first album, which contained both original songs and some of his stand-up comedy routines. The album made it to #73 on the Top Country Albums chart.
Several other albums followed, and in 2004, he released a compilation album, “Greatest Hits,” on two discs. One disc contained songs, the other was full of his comedy routines. “Greatest Hits” climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Top Comedy Albums chart, and went to No. 11 on the Billboard Top Country albums chart, giving Carrington his first Platinum-certified hit.
In addition to recording and stand-up comedy, Carrington is also an actor, and has appeared in the sitcom “Rodney,” as well as the film “Beer for My Horses.” He continues to record and tour.
Carrington's comedy is definitely for adults, peppered as it is with colorful language and sometimes crude humor. However, reviews are positive:
“What a FUN evening! Rodney is funnier than ever! And what a great singing voice!”
Carrington will appear at the Gila River Hotels & Casinos-Wild Horse Pass in Chandler on November 13, at 8:00 pm. Poster printing is frequently used to good effect to publicize events like this.
